LUCAN – Lovers of Lucan’s Baconfest will have to wait another year to pack the village with motorbikes, entertainment, and all things bacon, as the one-day summer festival has been officially cancelled for 2021 due to the pandemic.
Baconfest was also cancelled last year because of COVID-19.
Organizers made the announcement on April 7. The event is scheduled to return in 2022.
Baconfest has been held for eight years and attracts about 35,000 people to Lucan in an event that features a partnership between Hogtown Cycles, the Township of Lucan Biddulph and many community organizations.
“Like many festivals and events in Ontario, we have been monitoring the COVID-19 crisis closely, and with the federal and provincial regulations regarding gatherings and the need to keep everyone safe, the Baconfest Organizing Committee has felt it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel the 2021 event,” the committee said. “Lucan Baconfest will be back on July 9, 2022, with a great lineup of entertainment, bacon cuisine and fun for everyone.”
Mike Koricina and Teresa Burns of Hogtown Cycles said, “Riders and enthusiasts come to Baconfest to socialize, see each other’s motorcycles, watch the extreme shows, eat bacon and enjoy live music, but the world has dramatically changed this past year. It was a difficult decision. We love this event but we just want to do the right thing and keep everyone safe. We look forward to bigger and better in 2022.”
