Hillary Rodham Clinton, the former U.S. Secretary of State and presidential candidate, is collaborating with Quebec author Louise Penny on a mystery novel.
State of Terror “follows a novice Secretary of State who has joined the administration of her rival,” publisher Simon and Schuster said in a statement on Tuesday. Terrorist attacks and conspiracy ensue.
The novel is due to be published this October by Simon And Schuster and St. Martin’s Press.
The pair’s friendship predates this literary project.
In 2017, Clinton and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, joined Penny for a week-long vacation in North Hatley, Quebec.
“Writing a thriller with Louise is a dream come true. I’ve relished every one of her books and their characters, as well as her friendship,” Clinton said in a statement.
The new novel’s focus on American politics will be a change of pace for Penny, who made her name writing mysteries set in Quebec’s Eastern Townships.
